The Party is done!

Kelton wanted a LEGO themed Birthday so ... LEGOS is what he got.

I made the banners... and the giant faux legos, Kelton and Doug made the number 5 sign for the door.

I made so many LEGO chocolates and LEGO Soaps that I feel like Willy wonka meets Irish spring. ( No I didn't use Irish spring lol... that would just be silly.)

He had a blast Here are the photos:

Getting ready for Kelton's 5th Birthday

I can not believe my little baby is going to be 5 years old soon. He is one of the youngest in his class but boy he doesn't let it get in his way.

When I asked him what he wanted to do for his birthday he said have a lego party... well he actually said have a lego pirate party.( I convinced him just legos would be best.) SO I hit the net...
all you ladies out there who have done lego parties... YOU ROCK MY WORLD.

All Of the blogs( I will try to list them but forgot to book mark some.) were insanely helpful. Here's a short list of what I have done so far.... but it's missing some photos and what I do have... are kind crappy. Sorry.

Ok ...
-Lego bingo
Just printed and put it on card stock.

-Lego Soaps
I made both blocks and lego men. So that the kids get one of each... But I did get the tag from that site.

-Lego magnets- just glued legos to super strong magnets
-Lego candy-Bought at the Candy store in the mall.
-Lego invites- I will find the link for these
-Lego door sign- Have a picture of the one I found online but no link
-Faux lego blocks (boxes wrapped in paper)- I think I saw this somewhere... but don't remember....
-Lego chocolate bricks and men-melted chocolates and poured into mold.
-Lego Banner- not finished yet... but its the lego font colored yellow around the edges, glued on colored paper.
-guess how many legos jar- just a jar from the dollar store filled with lego.

-Pinata- I got lazy here and bought one shaped like a present at walmart for 9.95
- Lego cupcakes- got the idea here but am using lego men instead.
-Lego Juice boxes- got the idea and printable here, but used multi colors... only made enough for each child to have one.

Still to do
-lego head marshmallow pops
- Lego mini fig board... this might get tossed for lack of time.
- Prep all the gift bags for the kiddos.
-Decorate

For all you nursing Mamas

The biggest thing about nursing is of course to make sure that you are providing your child with the best you can give. But second to that it is a bonding between mother and baby. Ant mom who has been able to breast feed knows what I mean.

Nursing is public is always complicated. Some people are horrified or just simply rude when they see a baby nursing. My thought is if the breast is covered who cares. The baby has to eat!

Baby bond has just made it easier for all you moms. They have come up with a nursing cover that is in a sash style. So It covers mom and not the baby. This allows for mom to talk to baby and baby to see mom, making this a social experience.

Baby bond sent me the baby bond flex. I am normally a woman's size small and didn't want it to be too lose so I ordered a size one which is an extra small/small. I can wear it but its a bit snug. I am 128 lbs and 5'5". I wish I had gone up a size. So if you order one and are concerned I would go up one size just in case.

The baby bond is made of 100% cotton and washes nicely. It's also nice and soft so no fear of it bothering you skin or your sweet babies. It rolls up nicely into a small bag that is included. It also has a SUPER soft burp cloth for those who have messy eaters.

I wish I had this when I had my son. He hated not being able to see everything going on around him.

Here is the how to video on the baby bond flex. See how easy it is!

And as a Special just for my readers Baby Bond has given us a special discount code just for you! The code is "SEWING"! Now go order yours so you can keep feeding social!

I am a goof

I made the cutest baby quilt for my friend Jamie's baby... he is still in belly at this time.
It was actually a wall peice from joann's that you quilt and hang but I wanted to make it useable.

Quilts are great for laying on the floor to let baby play on! BUT I didn't take a picture...So as soon as I get on I will post it!

plus I put satin edging on it and it looked pretty good.. my mitered edges were a little off bu not too bad... anyone have any tips on this?

1ST taggie blanket.

I am making all this baby stuff for the million or so pregnant people I know and I decided to try soemthing I have never done. I decided to make a taggie blanket.

For those of you that don't know Taggie blankets are little blankets with satin or textured tags around the outside edges. The idea is for the baby to use these both as self soothing and as tactile and visual stimulation.

Sounds awesome to me. So here is what I did.

First I picked 4 soft and cozy fabrics, 2 flannels in different patterns, and 2 minky type fabrics, one in flat and the other has like bubbles. I love how snuggley these fabrics are.

Then I ton a small TON of ribbon and cut them all into 3 in. sections. I sewed 4 squ
ares (aprox. 8in by 8in) and then pined the "tags" to it. I covered the whole border with one set of stitches.

Then I placed on the blue minky right side to right side and sewed it to the other side, making sure the tags were inside, I left a small opening between tags to turn. This gave me a 2nd seem over all the tags.

After that I turned it inside out and top stitched the entire thing all the way a
round! This gave me a 3rd seem over the tags.

I was very concerned about a baby pulling the tags out but afte
r finishing I pulled on the tags pretty hard and nothing moved, I let my 4 yr old play with it for a little while and still nothing so I am confidant we are good to go.

I love the way it turned out... now to make more.

Cupcakes and Cowboy crayon rolls

I am this cute little cupcake crayon roll up for my friend's daughter's 2nd birthday. I hope she loves it. I sure do.

This Cowboy style crayon roll I made for Kelton. He had been begging me to make things for him. So I whipped this up and he is so happy now. He uses it each day when we do "homework" and now I'm happy because the cats aren't rolling crayons around the house. Btw this is the fabric I won and posted about here.

Sewing for a little girls birthday

So Kelton was invited to his 1st birthday party from his school friends.
He was so excited and so was I. It meant I could make something for a girl!

here is what I came up with... Kelton is acting as my model... he told me..." mommy.... aren't these for a girl?" I told him I would give him chocolate if he would just let me take a few pictures.
It worked..... barely.

So I got a serger for christmas, and have been to intimidated to use it. But I finally did, and other then breaking one needle...part is still missing... :(.

I am in love. I wish I had gotten one sooner. I am in the middle of making a skirt for on of Kelton's friends, her birthday is Saturday. I hope she likes what I am making, I am going to make the kiddo model it. He'll hate me for it when he is older! Oh well.

a highschool type love note....

I saw this and have wanted to make one! I wanted it to seem like something a high school girl would scribble in her binder. I love how it turned out.. I wish Kelton had not busted the glass! oh well. I am going to make one for his room I think with a plane on it that says something like... I loved you before I held you in my arms... or something like that.

Crayon roll

Kelton got invited to his 1st birthday party in Pre-K. He and I are both excited... I am excited because if give me good reasons to make some stuff. So this is the 1st of gifts to be made. I don't really know what else I will be making but I am thinking every girl needs a tu-tu.

Nursing Covers

In the last two days I have knocked out 4 of these bad boys. I used Prudent baby's tut to whip these up! I love how fast they are to make and oh so easy!

Apron for Kelton

I used Sew Liberated's child apron pattern for the body. The straps I kind of just winged. The waist strap has Velcro on one side and the neck has Velcro on both sides. He has since requested a pocket with his name on it so I will have to do that soon!

1st set of go baby go goodies are done!

I finished these guys up this morning... well they aren't totally done I still need to put some kind of closure on the bibs. The peices are from that panel of go baby go that I bought. I lined them or backed them with a super soft flannel that says I love my mommy, and I love my daddy.

I'm a winner!

I won this forever ago and just realized I hadn't posted on my blog about it!
This fat quarter bundle I won is from Poppy Seed fabrics. I remember having a project in mind when I hoped to win... but can't think of it for the life of me.. Oh well. it will either come to me or I will find a new idea!
You can buy this here!

The giveaway was hosted by one of my Favorite bloggers...
Little Lizard King... super cute Kids patterns

Fabric shopping!!

Right now I know 13 ... yes 13... pregnant people. Some of which I am very close to and will be making things for. So I figured 1st a quick and easy for 4 mom's nursing covers. Here is the fabric picked out for those.

Here is the flannel I bought along with some corduroy that was on super clearance for less then 2.00 a yard!

This is actually supposed to be a wall panel but I am going to make it into a baby blanket for on of my friends. She knows she is having a boy so I think she will be happy!

Go baby Go...

I found this panel at Jo-ann's and loved the colors! Instead of using it how it's intended.. IE: match the pieces, I am going to back them all with flannel. The I can make twice as many super cute things!

It has printed stitching marks on different parts, so I am going over them with embroidery floss to give them a little more depth!

tile and paper coasters

I made these in sets of four I already sent out two sets and forgot to take pictures of them. I just hit the paper aisle in Micheal's and found different papers I liked, I found this really cool paper with tools on them and thought that would make cool coasters. The others I just thought were pretty!

All I did was cut the paper and mod podge the paper to the tile, put 4 coats over the top and then spray them with clear coat. Then cut and glued cork to the bottom!
I used The Cottage Home's tut for this.
Easy and pretty!
