x-mas stockings for a friend

I made these stockings for a friend she just wanted one for her son Kyler, to match with their daughters handmade stocking. I haven't ever seen her stocking except for in two cell phone pictures.

But this is what I came up with. I didn't have a pattern, and I decided to make one for her an
her hubby so they all had handmade stockings.
The top photos are of her daughters stocking.
All the stocking are made of quilters cotton and I used a fuse able plush interfacing.

Kids hooded scarf

Since we are going to Ohio for the new year I decided the kiddo needed a hooded scarf.
He is currently obsessed with camo, so I found this at Jo-ann's and bought the last of the bolt.

I did make a kind-of patten. I will try to make it into a file if someone should want one.

Baby items....

Last night I tried my hand at car seat strap covers using this tute. I didn't have any bias tape so I kind of made my own. They sure didn't work out perfectly but good enough.

I also made a nursing cover, and a baby blanket and one of these burp cloths.

I think this will make a good little gift for My step-mom's sister in-law.... what a mouthful.

Sorry about the mess behind everything, we move into the new house next week.

More baby items coming soon...

So my mom's sister-in-law is expecting a little baby boy!
I am planning on make a nursing cover, blanket and car seat straps.

If there is fabric left over after that I am going to buy some towels and make them into burp cloths.

Oh I love babies!

Pattern Test for Little Lizard King

I saw this post on Little Lizard King, and jumped on it. I love making things for kids but haven't made to many things for my little guy. This was so fun. My son is on a Halloween/skeleton kick and Jo-ann's has their Halloween fabric on sale half off, so I found two I like and ta-da. Here it is.

Little Lizard King's, reversible unisex vest.

A new house means... new Ideas

Some of you may know that I was trying to buy a house. Well, good news! I closed and got my keys yesterday!

I am in love and have a head full of Ideas.

We started primeing the walls last night and have to do all the painting in the upstairs before Friday. The flooring guys come in next week to start laying the floor.

I need to sit down and write out all my ideas so nothing gets missed! I am so excited and overwhelmed at the same time.

Car seat Canopy and Nursing cover

Ok so it's been a crazy week here. My good friend is moving to Florida and she just had her 3rd baby, a beautiful little girl. She asked if I could whip up a car seat tent and nursing cover for her. So she brought me fabric that she liked and I got to work.

Here is the car seat tent or canopy. I got the info from this tute, Car Seat tent.

Here is the nursing cover I used these tutes Prudent Baby, Make it and Love it. Sorry I don't have better pictures of this one. I was being foolish and useing my cell phones camera instead of my real camera.

New Tank dress: Dragon

I have seen these dresses everywhere and though I could make my own for much cheaper. I found that I wasn't the only one with this idea in mind. I found Amber of Ruffles and Roses,
tute on how to make them... So I set off the JO-anns and found this great dragon print fabric and had a coupon for 50% off, then hit target and got the tank for 8$.

And from that came this. Sorry about the blue shirt underneath but my dress form and tank are the same color.

His Shirts 1

On May 25th My husband was riding home on his bicycle and was struck and killed my a motorist.
I am dealing with everything in my own way and a big part of dealing with this is figuring out what to do with all his clothes. He was an active duty Corpsman in the Navy(A medic.) and in addition to all his uniforms, I also have his civilians. I didn't want to donate them to good will, because I really can't part with them. So I have decided to make them into things that I can wear, So he is always with me where ever I go.

Here is the 1st thing I made. I simply took two of his Banana Republic tee shirts and hacked them up to give me a tank with a more modern feminine twist.

I know it's not a good picture, but I love how it turned out.

Ring pillow

So I haven't been super into sewing right now as my husband passed away in an accident. I am finally starting at my machine and how knocked my own socks off with this ring pillow.
I love , love , love it!

My cousin is getting married in September and I was going to make my dress but due to current events have decided to just buy one and make the pillow.

I love the way it turned out and it was so simple.
Satin, lace, ribbon, 1 crystal button and 4 bi-cone crystals.

5 min re-fashion

Ok so I have two of these wrap shirts from Express from 2005 or 2006. Back when my job required looking business-y.

I love them a lot they have these amazing french cuffs and are super comfortable, but in this amazing California weather long sleeves are just not COZY.

SO here is my 5 min refashion...

All i did was cut off the sleeves fold them in and run a stitch though. I need to pull the darts in a little so I will do that later this week... my dress form has nicer breasts then me.... :( lol

The camera bag...

So after many pricked fingers, here it is, I don't have a picture if the completed one as I was finishing it with Gail standing next to me. I made this bag for her to have something Feminine and pretty for her camera as she was shooting Project Ethos San Diego. This was last night, I was there and am so inspired buy the designers that I will have to get back to my machine very soon.
here is my drawing of the bag and then a pictures of the bag itself.

everything is pushed to the side

So My amazing friend asked me to make a custom camera bag for her, as she is photographing at Fashion week here in San Diego. THIS THURSDAY!!! Above is the fabric i am using, also using a black pleather... it should look amazing when i am done.

So all other projects are halted. I am in the middle of one top, cutting pieces for my sample dress, etc. that's all on hold.

I don't really mind, I just feel a little rushed.

I made these for my son. They turned out so cute. I still need to add side buttons. The corduroy was kind of hard to work with as it kept fraying on me!

I was supposed to make this as a homecoming dress when my hubby came home from Iraq, lol but i just got around to making it... it's a little too snug... but I love it!!

Blog Start

So I decided to start a sewing blog instead of just posting on Facebook. I just started working on on the tea top. http://www.burdastyle.com/projects/afternoon-tea-top

I found this great fabric on clearance, at Jo-ann's.

I just finished a woven vinyl clutch in blue vinyl. Also bought at jo-anns for 6.00 a yard I used maybe 1/3 of the yard.
